Swap places

Why am I sick and not you? Asked Ruby tonight. Her big blue eyes looking at me as we were dancing around our hospital room playing musical Statues to Katy Perrys firework song.

What a good question and one I ask myself  daily.

As a mum you wish you could take the pain away from your child and instead of them being sick you were sick.

So my reply ” I wonder that all the time Ruby. I wish it was me that was sick and not you.”

And immediately Ruby said “but mummy then you would not be with me and I love you being with me”.

A tear in my eye we hugged.

This illnesss as horrible as it is has some positives. And this is one of them.

I love my wise baby girl Ruby.
